My Future Fund

My Future Fund is a children’s savings account program that will give current Washtenaw elementary school students and families a jump-start on saving and planning for future college and career training.

What: My Future Fund will support students and families by

  1. Automatically opening free My Future Fund Accounts for each qualified student. Money added to this account through the My Future Fund program can be used for future college and career training expenses.
  2. Making a $25 initial deposit to every student who received a My Future Fund Account.
  3. Adding an additional $475 COVID Deposit for eligible students.
  4. Providing financial education and resources on how to save for college and career training.

Who: Students enrolled in Washtenaw County public elementary & K-8 schools and participating public school academies.

When: Starting in the Spring of 2023, the first group of elementary students will automatically be enrolled in the My Future Fund program, unless a parent or guardian opts them out.

Why: My Future Fund aims to create more equitable opportunities for Washtenaw County students.

A collaboration between Washtenaw County’s Office of Community and Economic Development and the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, the program is funded through an investment of American Rescue Plan Act & County General Fund dollars.
