At Washtenaw Literacy there are FREE ADULT LITERACY TUTORS dedicated to helping you prepare to pass the GED test. Foundation of C.A.R.E. Boot Camp - Launch your Healthcare Career

C.A.R.E. - Caring for the Aging Responsibly through Education.  This accelerated two-week, long-term health care training program will provide you with the skills needed to succeed in direct patient care.  This may include the opportunity for paid on-the-job training.

Training includes: CPR certification (pass exam), patient care, essential soft skills and four continuing education credits at WCC.  Upon successful completion of this boot camp, you will receive the opportunity to interview with one of our employer partners.

Washtenaw Community College is excited to announce a new initiative called Advance Ypsi that will give Ypsilanti High Schools (YCS) students and adults in the community an opportunity to obtain an education and training for high-wage, high-demand jobs to fill employer talent needs. Ann Arbor Public Schools – Free GED preparation classes are offered in two locations in Ann Arbor (although you do not need to be a resident of Ann Arbor to enroll), 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Mondays at Malletts Creek Library, 3090 E. Eisenhower Parkway and Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9 p.m. at Pathways to Success Campus, 2800 Stone School Rd., Room 210. Satellite classes are also offered at the Chelsea District Library, 2215 Main St. and the Dexter District Library, 3255 Alpine St.

Ypsilanti locations:

• Parkridge Community Center: In-person Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-7:00 p.m.
• Christian Love Fellowship Church: In-person and virtual on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with childcare provided.
• Mosaic part of Our House for current or former foster youth: In- person and virtual on Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Ypsilanti Township -In partnership with WCC, Lincoln and Ypsilanti areas offer the GED Pathways program, Adult Basic Education, and ESL for students ages 18 and older. A combination of direct student instruction, computer-based strategies, and counseling support are available. Classes meet Monday through Thursday at the Ypsilanti Township Community Center, 2025 E. Clark Rd. (on the bus line)

Washtenaw Community College (WCC) – Offers GED Plus, helping students 16 years and older to complete their high school equivalency and providing guidance for a career path. A blend of career and GED classes, this program offers an array of support services including counseling, tutoring, and job readiness assistance.The program focuses on key skills needed for college readiness and career performance. There is a $30** fee per semester. Student Center Building, 4800 E. Huron River Dr. Ann Arbor and at the Harriet Street Center in Ypsilanti.

Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program

A hands-on learning experience on WCC’s campus. Students learn to build academic skills, develop a career path, and receive added support while learning skills to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOS). Preparing for the MOS gives students basic computer skills to succeed as a college student and in the workplace. Individuals working on a GED or who have a high school diploma are encouraged to participate. All applicants must attend a mandatory orientation. Cost is $30.
