Exciting Math + CS Workshops for All

The CS for Michigan Collaborative invites educators to participate in engaging professional learning workshops this summer. Designed for a range of grade levels and interests, these sessions support teachers in building confidence, expanding skills, and exploring innovative math, data science, and computer science topics. Join fellow educators for a collaborative learning experience focused on bringing high-quality instruction into the classrooms.

Summer 2026 Workshops for Educators

These workshops support middle and high school math educators in strengthening algebra instruction by integrating problem-based learning and computer science concepts into Algebra 1 & 2 and middle school Expressions & Equations Standards. Designed for educators at all experience levels, the Bootstrap curriculum connects required mathematics expectations with computing to deepen student understanding through applied problem solving. All instructional materials are provided, giving teachers the resources needed to confidently incorporate computational thinking into their math classrooms right away.

Register Here for Expressions and Equations

Bootstrap: Expressions and Equations, three-day summer workshop, equips teachers to integrate computer science concepts into mathematics classrooms using the Bootstrap curriculum. Participants explore how programming and mathematical modeling can reinforce core mathematics standards, such as Order of Operations, Algebraic Properties (Commutativity, Associativity, Distribution, Identity, Inverses, and more!), Exponents, Opposites and Absolute Values, Variables and Solving Equations.

Teachers will experience lessons as learners, then unpack the underlying mathematics and pedagogy. By the end of the workshop, participants will be prepared to implement the curriculum with confidence, connect coding to real-world problem-solving, and support all students in deepening their understanding of math through engaging, project-based learning. See website for more information. Mi-coding.com

The School AI Student AI Literacy learning experiences are designed to help students understand what AI is, how it works, and how to use it responsibly, creatively, and thoughtfully in school and beyond.

Built directly into School AI Spaces, these lessons guide students through age-appropriate, interactive activities that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making, without fear or overwhelm.

Learning content is age-banded with lessons designed for ages 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 14-18, and Higher Education.

The content is free and can be downloaded by grade-band.

Invention Convention Michigan

Invention Convention Michigan (ICM) brings together problem solvers, inventors and entrepreneurs of all ages, backgrounds and disciplines, and inspires our students to become the next generation of innovators. Students learn from educators who use The Henry Ford’s Invention Convention Curriculum, which details the seven-step invention process. This process guides students to identify a problem, understand the background, ideate a solution, design a model, build a prototype, test and retest their invention, and communicate the results with others. To find out more visit the Invention Convention Michigan site. If you would like to arrange a meeting with the ICM team, please contact me at dwalker@washtenawisd.org
